Lotus Place provide services for people who are living with the lifelong impacts of institutional childhood abuse in Queensland. With them, you will find a safe place to connect, heal, build resilience and access justice.

Their services include:

  • personal and skills development opportunities and peer support activities
  • individual advocacy and support to seek access to government and community services
  • help to seek redress of past abuse through the criminal justice system, civil processes, or internal church or religious institutional processes.

  • support for regional peer networks and activities
  • access to professional support and counselling services
  • information and referral to other services.

Micah Projects

Micah Projects is a not-for-profit organisation. They're committed to providing services and opportunities in the community to create justice and respond to injustice.

Subsidy funding for medical aids and equipment is available to eligible Queenslanders with permanent/stable conditions or disabilities. Aids and equipment are subsidy funded either on a permanent loan basis, private ownership or through the supply of consumables.

Redress schemes for those abused as children in institutional settings

National Redress Scheme

The Australian Government has developed the National Redress Scheme to provide support to people who were sexually abused as children in institutional settings. The Scheme seeks to ensure that the institutions that were responsible for the abuse acknowledge the harm they caused and provide redress to the survivors of sexual abuse. The scheme started on 1 July 2018 and will run for 10 years.

The Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme

The Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme provides support to those whose removal took place in the:

  • Northern Territory, before 1 July 1978
  • Australian Capital Territory, before 11 May 1989
  • Jervis Bay Territory.

Victorian Redress Scheme

The Victorian Redress Scheme for Historical Institutional Abuse (Victorian Redress Scheme) began accepting applications on 10 December 2024 and will operate for 18 months.
